Can I use custom applications on my site?

Yes you can, with some limitations. Applications that cause servers to lock or create the need for the server to be rebooted will not be allowed. We suggest that you work out any problems with your program prior to loading it on your account. 

Our goal is to have a very reliable Windows program. We don't want to inhibit people from developing programs but we must maintain server operation. A program that is causing problems relating to server operation must be removed as it is not fair to other customers that are being hosted on the same web server. Also, many times these applications require the server to be rebooted, over and over. This effects every account on that server.

Custom .DLLs or programs are not allowed on a shared server for very good reasons. Recently, another hosting company that allowed this had a user who constructed a .DLL that erased the hard drive, although we don't know if it was by accident or on purpose. These applications are a big security risk on a shared server.

If you are going to do a great deal of development we recommend that you get your own server as you will have complete control and will be able to reboot as needed.  Please see our server lineup at: http://www.DedicatedSystems.net.
